Welcome to the New Vista Academy. We are the training department at New Vista!

New Vista Academy offers a range of classes and learning opportunities for behavioral health professionals. From continuing education courses that meet state licensing board requirements to state-approved curriculums for targeted case managers, community support associates and peer support specialists, we offer options to fit your needs and schedule. Adult Peer Support Training (5 Day Training)

Monday, February 14th, 2022 - Virtual Training via Zoom

New Vista is approved by the Kentucky Department of Behavioral Health to present this 30-hour program offering the curriculum required to become a certified Adult Peer Support Specialist in Kentucky. Trainings are open to anyone in recovery from mental health, substance use or co-occurring disorder interested in working as a PSS. This training is virtual via zoom, video and audio participation are mandatory. Seating is limited and we do not keep a waitlist.

Community Support Associate Training (2 Day)

Tuesday, February 15th, 2022 - Virtual Training via Zoom

This 10-hour training satisfies the curriculum requirements for Community Support Associate certification by the Kentucky Department for Behavioral Health, covering principles of recovery, promoting resilience, psychiatric rehabilitation, and effective communication. Provides an overview of mental health and co-occurring diagnoses, as well as appropriate crisis intervention skills.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and one year of full-time employment experience working with individuals that receive treatment for mental health.

Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for Psychosis

Thursday, February 17th, 2022 - Virtual Training via Zoom

This presentation aims to provide clinicians with knowledge and skill and develop a framework for approaching clients experiencing delusions, hallucinations, and psychosis, and to better prepare them to work with this high-risk population. We want to identify challenges due to the chronicity and recurrent nature of symptoms partially due to lack of complete responsiveness to medication and traditional treatments. CBTp is a collaborative approach to symptom management introducing new ways to approach the treatment process. This has been approved for LCSW and Psychology CEUs. LPCC pending. LMFT individually apply.

Clinical Supervision for Kentucky Licensed Professional Counselors LPCC-S (2 Day Training)

Monday, March 7th, 2022 - Virtual Training via Zoom

201 KAR 36:060 requires that any Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, and all other professions providing supervision (including Licensed Psychologist or Certified Psychologist with autonomous functioning, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Psychiatrist, Nurse with a master’s degree in psychiatric certification, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) for Licensed Professional Counseling Associates, complete BOARD APPROVED SUPERVISION TRAINING every three (3) years in order to continue providing supervision.

Targeted Case Management Training Core, SMI, SUD

Monday, March 14th, 2022 - Virtual Training via Zoom

This training is state-approved for Targeted Case Management certification and includes the required 12-hour Core Competency Curriculum for the training of Behavioral Health Targeted Case Managers in Kentucky, as well as additional specialty topics addressing adults with Serious Mental Illness, and adults with Substance Use Disorder.

Must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a behavioral science; and one year of full-time employment experience working directly with individuals in a human service setting, post-degree. A master's degree may substitute for the year experience.  

**You must select each competency individually when you register. CORE is listed as the top option, and SUD, and SMI are listed as "Add Ons" below it. If you wish to register for SUD, and/or SMI click on "add ons" and select all that apply.**

Ethics for Social Workers

Thursday, March 24th, 2022 - Virtual Training via Zoom

This course focuses on the legal and ethical responsibilities of social workers. Particular focus will be given to the KY SW Code of Ethical Conduct as outlined in 201 KAR 23:080. Informed consent, privileged communication, abuse reporting will be discussed in the context of practicing in a safe and clinically sound manner.

Connect the Dots (2 Day Training)

Wednesday, March 30th, 2022 - Virtual Training via Zoom

Learning Objectives:

1. Ensure a supportive environment to improve a child's behavior.

2. Encourage positive behaviors that link to positive experiences.

3. Emphasize positive discipline techniques that teach children how to handle feelings and behaviors in an appropriate way.

4. Embrace unique strengths and identify their critical impact on behavior and relationships.

6 CEUs - LPCC, LCSW, Psychology. LMFT should apply individually.

This is a two day training. Both days of training are mandatory.
