New Vista Academy offers a range of classes and learning opportunities for behavioral health professionals. From continuing education courses that meet state licensing board requirements to state-approved curriculums for targeted case managers, community support associates and peer support specialists, we offer options to fit your needs and schedule. Revealing the Secrets Behind Essential Skills - Magi-Talk

Cody breaks the magician’s code by revealing some secrets….but not of magic tricks! Instead, he’ll be sharing the secrets behind essential life skills. These can seem easy to everyone else, but harder for autistic people. Cody takes the mystery out of it by offering simple, easy to remember techniques to improve skill sets related to communication, workplace team building, personal responsibility, confidence, and persuasiveness among others which will allow your students to make strides towards being successful adults.

Law for Kentucky LPCC

Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 - Virtual Training via Zoom

This training is facilitated by an LPCC and meets the requirements for continuing education by the Kentucky Board of Licensed Professional Counselors. LPCC’s and LPCA’s will learn about the Kentucky laws and regulations pertaining to their license and how the Kentucky Licensed Professional Counseling Board operates. This includes licensing requirements, definitions, educational requirements, supervision and supervisor requirements, and codes of conduct.

The Role of Businesses in Opioid Misuse Prevention

Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 - Virtual Training via Zoom

This training will provide an overview of opioids, how to recognize if someone is suffering with an overdose. As well as the connection between opioids and suicide. The training will also provide each participant with a free supply of Narcan and instruction on how to use it safe and effectively. Focus on implementing workplace prevention plans within your businesses and learn about helpful resources.

Self-Employment while Autistic - Magi-Talk

Monday, May 17th, 2021 - Virtual Training via Zoom

Cody in this talk acknowledges why self-employment is a popular employment option for autistic adults. From his lived experience as a five year and counting self-employed magician/autistic self-advocate, Cody gives students an honest look at the ins and outs of self-employment. He shares why he feels it was the right decision for him, the steps he took to launch his career and maintain it, and goes over the positives and negatives of self-employment to help your students decide whether its right for them and if it is, guide them on how to start.

Making Life Magical - Magi-Talk

As awesome as learning self-advocacy, essential life skills, and how to run a business are, these are the boring parts of life. Life’s not meant to be just work and skill-building……we’re meant to have fun too! In this talk, Cody shares ways your students can make their lives as magical as they can be! Your students will learn how to discover interests/hobbies, how and why they should plug into communities, and the benefits to being open to trying new things.

Clinical Supervision for Kentucky Licensed Professional Counselors LPCC-S (2 Day)

Monday, June 7th, 2021 - Virtual Training via Zoom

201 KAR 36:060 requires that any Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, and all other professions providing supervision (including Licensed Psychologist or Certified Psychologist with autonomous functioning, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Psychiatrist, Nurse with a master’s degree in psychiatric certification, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) for Licensed Professional Counseling Associates, complete BOARD APPROVED SUPERVISION TRAINING every three (3) years in order to continue providing supervision.

Adult Peer Support Training

Monday, June 7th, 2021 - Virtual Training via Zoom

New Vista is approved by the Kentucky Department of Behavioral Health to present this 30-hour program offering the curriculum required to become a certified Adult Peer Support Specialist in Kentucky. Trainings are open to anyone in recovery from mental health, substance use or co-occurring disorder interested in working as a PSS. This training is virtual via zoom, video and audio participation are mandatory. Seating is limited and we do not keep a waitlist.

Community Support Associate Training (2 Day)

Tuesday, July 6th, 2021 - Virtual Training via Zoom

This 10-hour training satisfies the curriculum requirements for Community Support Associate certification by the Kentucky Department for Behavioral Health, covering principles of recovery, promoting resilience, psychiatric rehabilitation, and effective communication. Provides an overview of mental health and co-occurring diagnoses, as well as appropriate crisis intervention skills.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and one year of full-time employment experience working with individuals that receive treatment for mental health. 

Cost $105

Advancing Skills in Motivational Interviewing

This one day workshop will help participants build on Motivational Interviewing (MI) foundations toward increasing skillfulness. The session will focus specifically on practicing the selective and differential use of reflective listening for softening sustain talk and cultivating change talk.
