Welcome to the Bluegrass Academy. We are the training department at Bluegrass!

Bluegrass Academy offers a range of classes and learning opportunities for behavioral health professionals. From continuing education courses that meet state licensing board requirements to state approved curriculums for targeted case managers, community support associates and peer support specialists, we offer options to fit your needs and schedule. Community Support Associate Training

Tuesday, July 31, 2018, 1351 Newtown Pike, Lexington, KY, Building 3, Newtown Room

This 10-hour training satisfies the curriculum requirements for Community Support Associate certification by the Kentucky Department for Behavioral Health. The training covers principles of recovery and resilience, psychiatric rehabilitation, effective listening and communication skills and techniques, an overview of mental health and co-occurring diagnoses, as well as crisis intervention skills.

Cost $100/day

Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse

This session will provide an overview of domestic violence and elder abuse, neglect and exploitation as required by Kentucky Statute and equip counselors with the information necessary to better support their clients.

Cultural Competency Skills for Counselors

This course explores various approaches for acknowledging and overcoming biases in order to effectively serve clients holding differing cultural identities and the impact historic and existing forms of oppression can have on engagement and treatment success. Attendees will take part in experiential activities and group discussion in addition to didactic learning to gain a deeper understanding of the material presented.

Adult Peer Support Specialist Training

Monday, September 17, 2018, Newtown Training Room, Building 3, 1351 Newtown Pike, Lexington, Kentucky

Bluegrass is approved by the Kentucky Department of Behavioral Health to present Adult Peer Support Specialist Training. This is a 30-hour program offering curriculum required to become a certified KY Adult Peer Support Specialist. All application materials and fees are due by September 10, 2018. Seating is limited. If registration is full, individuals may be waitlisted or opt to register for the training scheduled in December 2018.
