Eastern State Hospital hosted a mobile
blood drive for the
Kentucky Blood Center on
February 25. Thirty Bluegrass employees donated blood,
exceeding organizers registration goals. The Blood Center
estimates 72 people will benefit from the donations.
The Kentucky Blood Center provides nearly 300 pints of blood
every day to meet the needs of central and eastern Kentucky.
People of all ages need blood, adults who require dozens of
pints for their surgery or a baby who may need only a few
tablespoons of the precious fluid to survive. About 90% of
Kentuckians will need blood or blood products at some time in
their life. Every three seconds, someone in our area needs a
blood transfusion.
Bluegrass is proud to be a part of the Blood Center’s efforts.
The next ESH Blood Drive is scheduled for June 3.
