Oakwood Employees Take the Plunge

Oakwood employees participated in the Lake Cumberland Polar Bear Plunge on February 28 in support of the Kentucky Special Olympics.  The “Oakwood Frozen Eagles” team jumped into 40 degree water with nearly 100 other participants and raised $2,235.82 for Special Olympics.  The team received the top prize for fraternity/sorority/school group.

Special Olympics is an international program of year-round sports training and athletic competition for more than one million children and adults with intellectual disabilities.  The organization was founded on the belief that people with intellectual disabilities can, with proper instruction and encouragement, learn, enjoy and benefit from participation in individual and team sports.
